Mahhi Vij breaks silence on trolls after fallout from Jay Bhanushali

Actor Mahhi Vij has addressed online trolling and rumours surrounding her divorce from television actor Jay Bhanushali, stressing that their separation has not affected their commitment towards their children.

The couple announced their divorce on January 4, 2026, ending a 14-year marriage, and stated that they would continue to co-parent their three children, daughter Tara, and adopted children Khushi and Rajveer.

Social media speculation around alimony, parenting, and the couple’s decision to adopt children had intensified after the announcement.

Responding to these claims in her first YouTube vlog after the separation, Mahhi dismissed rumours that she had received a large alimony amount. “People are writing that I took ₹5 crore in alimony. Don’t act with half-knowledge. Old videos are being circulated just for likes and comments. It’s very sad,” she said.

Mahhi clarified that separation does not mean abandonment. “Aisa kuch nahi hai ki bachche bilkul anaath sadak pe aa gaye hain. Aisa kuch nahi hai,” she said, asserting that both she and Jay remain actively involved in their children’s lives.

Looking ahead, Mahhi said she hopes her children will one day understand and respect the decision taken by their parents. “I feel my kids will feel proud of both Jay and me, that it’s okay. Mum and dad decided they didn’t want to continue, but they did it respectfully.”

She added that extended family members, such as grandparents, can provide a sense of continuity during such transitions, while parents must communicate honestly and repeatedly reassure children that the separation was a decision made by adults.
