George Clooney’s wife Amal may face US travel ban over role in Israel war crimes case

Amal Clooney, prominent international human rights lawyer and wife of actor George Clooney, could face difficulty in entering the United States due to her legal role in the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) investigation into alleged war crimes by Israeli leaders.
According to the Financial Times, Amal Clooney is among a group of legal experts who have advised the ICC in its case involving Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, concerning actions taken during the war in Gaza.
The report claims that the UK Foreign Office recently warned these lawyers, including Clooney, about the potential for US sanctions under a February 2025 executive order signed by President Donald Trump, which targets individuals aiding in the ICC’s legal pursuit of Israeli officials.
The move could lead to entry bans or financial penalties for those involved with the ICC’s investigations. Amal Clooney has not made a public statement regarding the warnings or her role in the case.
Despite the political tensions surrounding his wife, George Clooney continues his work in Hollywood. His upcoming projects include:
The Boys in the Boat (Director – released in some regions, pending wider international rollout)
A rumored political thriller with longtime collaborator Grant Heslov.
The potential travel ban could complicate the couple’s joint appearances or US-based promotional events, depending on how the situation evolves.
