Farhan Akhtar to portray Ravi Shankar in ‘The Beatles’

In a major casting announcement, Farhan Akhtar is set to portray legendary sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar in the upcoming project The Beatles - A four-film cinematic event. The ambitious cinematic venture will chronicle the journey of iconic British band The Beatles, offering a fresh perspective on the individuals and influences that shaped their music and legacy.
Ravi Shankar played a pivotal role in introducing Indian classical music to Western audiences during the 1960s. George Harrison, a member of the Beatles' deep interest in Indian spiritual and classical music, which led to the incorporation of instruments such as the sitar in several Beatles tracks, marking a groundbreaking fusion of Eastern and Western musical styles.

According to Neal Street's official website, the event ‘The Beatles - A four film cinematic event’ is an upcoming four biographical films series that is going to be directed by Sam Mendes, and produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment, Neal Street Productions, and Apple Corps. Will be in cinemas from April 2028.
