Fake News: Uorfi Javed Rejects Rumours Of Religion Change

Actor and reality TV personality Uorfi Javed has dismissed viral claims that she converted from Islam to Hinduism and changed her name to Rita Bhardwaj. The actor criticised a former DD News journalist over the claims and said false information about her was being spread on social media.

Viral video sparks controversy

A video shared by former DD News journalis claimed that Uorfi had converted to Hinduism, changed her name to Rita Bhardwaj and was known only for wearing revealing clothes. She also questioned the actor’s choice of clothing and urged her to show more modesty.

Uorfi denies claims

Responding through her Instagram Stories, Uorfi denied changing either her name or religion. She said she has never made such an announcement and added that she does not believe in any religion.

The actor also criticised the journalist for not verifying facts before making the claims. She said people were free to criticise her, but should not spread false information.

Shares screenshots of messages

In a later post, Uorfi claimed that the content creator sent her “triggering” messages after being called out. She shared screenshots of the messages and alleged that the video was later deleted and that she was blocked by the creator.

Uorfi also denied another claim made about her, saying reports suggesting she had undergone cosmetic breast surgery were false.

Uorfi won The Traitors India in 2025 and also hosted Engaged: Roka Ya Dhoka the same year. She has previously appeared in television shows including Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2.
