Bollywood actor Dino Morea has been arrested by the Mumbai Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in the alleged Mithi River desilting scam, according to Mid-Day. Morea was taken into custody on October 2, 2026, after investigators questioned him for nearly eight hours at his Bandra residence.
The case centres on alleged financial irregularities in the desilting and rejuvenation work undertaken on Mumbai’s Mithi River. The EOW is probing suspected discrepancies in the project, which allegedly resulted in a ₹65.54 crore loss to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Investigation Into Mithi River Desilting Contracts
The EOW’s probe covers allegations surrounding contracts awarded for Mithi River desilting, including the role of contractors, intermediaries and civic officials.
Investigators are examining how the contracts were awarded and how payments connected to the project were made.
₹18 Lakh Transfer Under Scanner
A financial transaction involving ₹18 lakh has also emerged in the investigation. The EOW had found that the amount was transferred to UBO Ridez, an electric cart company in which Santino Morea, Dino Morea’s brother, is a director.
Police officials said the payment was made by Ketan Kadam, identified as one of the prime accused in the case.
Kadam is associated with Vodar India LLP and was arrested in 2025 over his alleged role in the Mithi River desilting scam. Investigators also found that Vodar India LLP and UBO Ridez operated from the same address near Famous Studio in Worli, Mumbai.
ED Had Earlier Searched Morea’s Residence
The actor had previously come under the Enforcement Directorate’s scanner in connection with the case. In June last year, the ED carried out a nearly 14-hour search at Morea’s Mumbai residence.
Searches were also conducted simultaneously at 14 other locations in Mumbai and Kochi, including the residences of Morea’s brother and premises linked to contractors and middlemen.
