The Delhi High Court on Monday ordered Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav to surrender before the jail authorities in a cheque bounce case, as per reports. The court gave this required payment, even after his conviction in 2024.

The high court was hearing Rajpal Yadav’s petition against a May 2024 judgment of a Delhi sessions court. In that judgement, the lower court had reportedly convicted him and sentenced him to six months in jail for not honoring a cheque payment.

According to the reports, Rajpal Yadav was found guilty under cheque bounce laws after a cheque issued by him was not clear. The complaint was filed by M/s Murli projects pvt ltd, a private company.

During the hearing, the high court noted that Yadav did not follow the court’s directions related to payment. Because of this, the court ordered him to surrender before the jail superintendent.

Cheque bounce cases are treated as criminal offenses under Indian Law if the accused fails to pay the amount, even legal notice and court orders.
