Controversy erupts after video disputes Ranbir’s no-meat, no-alcohol lifestyle claims for ‘Ramayana’

Ranbir Kapoor’s lifestyle claims have come under renewed scrutiny after a recent video from a Netflix special raised questions about earlier reports suggesting the actor had adopted a strict ‘sattvic’ routine for his role in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana.
For months, industry chatter claimed that Ranbir had completely withdrawn from alcohol, non-vegetarian food and even smoking, supposedly to align himself more closely with the spirit and discipline of Lord Ram. The reports had also highlighted meditation sessions, early-morning fitness practices, and a deeply regimented lifestyle.
But the narrative shifted dramatically when a clip from Dining With The Kapoors, a Netflix release commemorating Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary, surfaced online. In the footage, Armaan Jain can be seen serving traditional meat dishes like fish curry, rice and junglee mutton to family members at a celebratory meal.
Ranbir appears at the table alongside Neetu Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Rima Jain, and others.
The moment spread rapidly across social media, prompting many users to accuse the actor’s PR machinery of carefully crafting an image that may not match reality. Several posts questioned whether the earlier claims of a sattvic lifestyle were exaggerated for publicity or fan engagement.
Amid the controversy, excitement around Tiwari’s Ramayana remains high. Ranbir leads the cast as Ram, with Sai Pallavi portraying Sita. Yash appears as Ravana, while Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey play Hanuman and Laxman.
The film also features Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Arun Govil, Sheeba Chaddha, Kunal Kapoor, Indira Krishnan and Adinath Kothare.
