Comedian Kunal Kamra, who is currently involved in controversy with his jibe at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde whom he referred to as a “traitor” during a stand-up performance, has declined an offer to participate in the reality TV show Bigg Boss.

Taking to his Instagram handle, Kamra shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp message he received from someone claiming to be part of the Bigg Boss casting team. The message invited him to join the popular show, which is hosted annually by Salman Khan.

In response to the message, Kamra wrote, “I would much rather check into a mental hospital…” implying that he would prefer that over participating in the show.

Kamra is scheduled to appear before Bombay High Court on April 16.

The comedian has also requested a virtual court appearance, citing death threats.

Kamra’s lawyer stated, “My client is facing death threats. He has approached the police thrice to record his statement via video conference, but they are insisting on his physical presence. We request the court to allow Kamra to appear through video conference instead.”
