Veteran actor Anupam Kher has announced his return to Bengali cinema after a gap of 26 years. Referring to filmmaker Satyajit Ray, popularly known as Manikda, director Mrinal Sen and writer Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Kher said he had learned a great deal from Bengal’s rich cultural and cinematic legacy. He added that the team wanted to officially announce the film and extend their good wishes to the industry.
Anupam Kher’s previous Bengali production, Bariwali, was directed by Rituparno Ghosh and starred Kirron Kher, Roopa Ganguly and Chiranjeet Chakraborty. Kirron Kher won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film.
