Case filed against Palash Muchhal for cheating and caste-based abuse
A serious case has been filed against music composer and filmmaker Palash Muchhal in Sangli, Maharashtra. The complaint includes allegations of cheating, caste based abuse, and threats. The case was filed by social worker Vignyan Mane, who is also a childhood friend of cricketer Smriti Mandhana. Police have started the investigation and have sent teams to arrest the accused.
Allegations of Cheating and Financial Fraud
Palash Muchhal took around ₹25 lakh from him in 2024. The money was taken as an investment for a film project named Nazariya.
Mane reportedly said that Muchhal promised good returns but did not return money even after the film was completed. Mane also said that whenever he asked for his money back, Muchhal kept delaying the payment.
On November 22, 2025, Mane met him in Sangli along with friends, where he realized that he had been cheated. He filed a case under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
As per reports, he also alleged that Muchhal threatened him with physical harm through contacts in Mumbai. Police have registered the case under relevant sections of law and are currently investigating the matter.
Muchhal was earlier engaged to Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana, and their wedding was planned for November 2025. However, the wedding was later cancelled. The reasons for the cancellation were not officially confirmed, but reports mentioned health issues on both sides at that time.
The film Nazariya, which is part of the dispute, was completed in 2024 and features actors like Bhavya Shah, Apoorva Arora, and Dhiraj Sanap. The situation is still developing, and more details are expected to come out soon.
