Boney Kapoor takes Sridevi’s property dispute to Madras HC, accuses owner’s second wife of fraud

Bollywood film producer Achal Surinder aka Boney Kapoor has moved the Madras High Court, alleging that three individuals have been unlawfully claiming rights over a farmhouse in Chennai that belonged to his late wife, actor Sridevi, according to reports.
Kapoor filed a plea of ‘fraud’ by a trio of a woman and her two sons claiming rights over property, located on East Coast Road (ECR) in Chennai, which was reportedly purchased by Sridevi on April 19, 1988, from one M C Sambanda Mudaliar, as per The Hindu.
Now the woman has claimed that she is married to Mudaliar in 1975, with whom a mutual property distribution was done back in 1960, according to reports.
Kapoor has challenged the legitimacy of the second wife’s claim, arguing that the man’s first wife was alive until 1999, making the alleged second marriage legally invalid.
The film producer has reportedly urged the court to revoke the heirship certificate and issue a legal one.
Hearing Kapoor’s plea, Justice N Anand Venkatesh directed the Tambaram Taluk Tahsildar to take a decision within four weeks.
