Bombay High Court reject Anita Advani’s claim of marriage with Rajesh Khanna
On April 1, 2026, the Bombay High Court rejected Anita Advani’s request to recognize her relationship with late actor Rajesh Khanna as a legal marriage, stating that it was only a live-in relationship and not valid under the Hindu Marriage Act.
Anita Advani reportedly said she lived with Rajesh Khanna from 2002 to 2012. She claimed that they had a private temple ceremony where Khanna applied vermilion and tied a mangalsutra, which she considers a marriage. However, Khanna’s family, including Dimple Kapadia and Twinkle Khanna, have always denied her claims.
The court said that even though they may have lived together, their relationship does not meet the legal requirements of marriage. It clearly stated that a live-in relationship cannot be treated as a marriage under the law. After the decision, Anita Advani expressed disappointment, as per reports.
Anita also made serious allegations against Khanna’s family. She reportedly said that she was not allowed to meet him during his last days in the hospital.
Anita Advani reportedly said her fight is not for money but for respect and dignity and has decided to continue her legal battle to prove her relationship.
