Big Bang Theory actor Kunal Nayyar says he anonymously pays families’ medical bills

Actor Kunal Nayyar, best known for playing Raj Koothrappali on The Big Bang Theory, has revealed that he regularly makes anonymous donations to families struggling with medical expenses through crowdfunding platform GoFundMe, as per reports.
In a recent interview with The i Paper, Nayyar shared that financial success has allowed him greater freedom and the opportunity to positively impact others. He said that being able to give back and help change lives has been one of the most meaningful aspects of his wealth.
Alongside supporting animal welfare organisations, he explained that he often browses GoFundMe at night to quietly cover medical bills for random families, describing it as his own way of helping behind the scenes.
According to reports earlier this year, Nayyar’s net worth is estimated at $45 million. During the peak of The Big Bang Theory’s popularity, the main cast reportedly earned $1 million per episode. Forbes ranked Nayyar among the world’s highest-paid television actors in 2015 and 2018, with reported annual earnings of $20 million and $23.5 million, respectively.
Nayyar indicated that wealth does not feel burdensome to him, but rather like a blessing that enables him to support causes he cares about.
His remarks have gained renewed attention on social media following news that friends of late actor James Van Der Beek launched a GoFundMe campaign to support his wife and six children after his passing from cancer. The fundraiser has reportedly collected $2.6 million.
