Mumbai Police have arrested another accused in the shooting case involving actor Tiger Shroff, with the 22-year-old allegedly supplying weapons used in the attack. Pranjal Thakran, a resident of Sonipat in Haryana, was arrested in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, during a joint operation by the Mumbai and Indore crime branches.
The arrest comes nearly a week after motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire at Shroff’s vehicle in Mumbai’s Juhu area. The actor escaped unhurt, while his driver and a vlogger were injured.
Accused Was in Indore for Brother’s Treatment
Police said Thakran had arrived in Indore around five days before his arrest for his brother’s treatment. After tracing his location and establishing his alleged involvement, the Mumbai Crime Branch contacted its Indore counterpart on Thursday night.
Four Mumbai Crime Branch officers and around eight Indore Crime Branch personnel took part in the operation on Saturday.
Mumbai Police will question Thakran about the alleged weapon supply, the wider conspiracy and his links with other suspects. Officials have declined to share further details about the investigation.
Multiple Arrests Across States
Thakran is the first accused arrested in Madhya Pradesh in the case.
The three men suspected of opening fire at Shroff’s vehicle were arrested in Rajasthan’s Kota on October 19. They were identified as Rehan alias Sukka, 18, from Sonipat; Ritwik Kurmi alias Roshan Fighter, 22, reportedly from Bihar and living in Andheri West; and Phool Singh, 18.
Delhi Police’s Special Cell subsequently arrested four alleged weapon suppliers—Kunal, 21, Sumit, 19, Radha, 23, and Babita, 23—in Delhi and Haryana. Other accused arrested in the case include Sameer, Jatin and Ankit Khatak.
Firing at Tiger Shroff’s Vehicle in Juhu
On the evening of October 18, three men on a motorcycle allegedly fired five to six rounds at Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area. The actor was unharmed, but his driver and a vlogger sustained injuries.
Soon after the incident, a person identified as Anil Pandit claimed responsibility for the firing in a social media post and alleged links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Police are investigating the motive behind the attack and the roles of those allegedly involved. Investigators suspect the assailants intended to kill Shroff, based on the manner in which they fired at his vehicle.
