Ankit Baliyan Murder Case: Two Shooters Killed in Encounter with UP Police

The Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (STF) has reportedly made a major breakthrough in the murder case of Haryanvi singer and YouTuber Ankit Baliyan. Two of the four alleged shooters were killed in an encounter in Shamli. Police have also found the involvement of six people in the case, including four shooters and two others who allegedly helped in reconnaissance and other activities.

The two accused killed in the encounter have been identified as Sumit and Mohit. Police reportedly said both were carrying a reward of ₹50,000 each and were allegedly associated with the Gogi gang. The encounter took place near the Indian Gas warehouse on Kairana Road as the police tracked the two accused. SWAT team head constables Harvinder and Pradeep were also injured. Police recovered two pistols, live and empty cartridges, a Splendor bike, a bag, a mobile phone and ₹5,000 cash.

Six People Involved in Case

The investigation has so far revealed the involvement of six people in the murder. Four of them were allegedly shooters, while two others helped in reconnaissance and other activities. Police identified the accused with the help of CCTV footage. The accused killed in the encounter were also seen monitoring Ankit Baliyan before the murder.

Shooters Stayed at Shamli Hotel

Ankit Baliyan was reportedly being monitored on August 20 before the murder. Two shooters stayed at the Surya Hotel in Shamli and submitted documents, including Aadhaar cards. Hotel CCTV footage gave police important clues. After the murder, two shooters fled towards Karnal on bikes, while Sumit and Mohit escaped towards Baghpat.

Police Teams Conduct Raids

Eight police teams from seven districts of the Meerut zone were deployed to trace the accused. Raids were conducted in Haryana and Delhi. Police also reportedly checked Ankit Baliyan's call details and WhatsApp messages to identify his accomplices and those involved in the murder conspiracy. Meerut Zone ADG Bhanu Bhaskar had earlier visited Shamli and held a meeting with senior officers about the investigation.

After the murder, police examined CCTV footage from areas near the incident and identified the four suspected shooters as residents of Hisar and Rohtak in Haryana. One of the accused had earlier been jailed in a murder case, while the other three were accused in minor crimes. The shooters later switched off their mobile phones and went into hiding, following which the UP STF intensified its search.
