Amitabh Bachchan Reveals Knee Injury During KBC 18 Shoot, Dismisses Retirement Rumours

Amitabh Bachchan revealed that he recently injured his knee while shooting for Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, forcing the veteran actor to deliver his usually energetic opening monologue while seated during Wednesday’s episode.

The Bollywood superstar, who traditionally begins the show standing at the centre of the stage, appeared seated during the episode and explained that he was having some difficulty standing after slipping and falling during the previous day’s shoot.

Amitabh Bachchan Opens Up About Knee Injury

Addressing viewers, Bachchan said he had suffered the injury during the shoot and was unable to deliver his opening monologue in his usual standing position.

“Usually, I do my monologue standing at the centre, but today, I have a knee injury. Yesterday, during the shoot, I slipped and fell and injured my knee,” he said.

He added that he was delivering the monologue while seated because he was facing a “little bit of difficulty standing up”.

However, the actor also reassured fans that the injury was not serious and that he would recover soon.

Amitabh Bachchan Clarifies Retirement Rumours

The knee injury comes as Bachchan continues to host KBC 18, while the actor has also recently addressed speculation that he could be preparing to retire from work.

The rumours began after Bachchan wrote in one of his blog posts that it was “late, time to retire”. The remark prompted speculation that the actor was hinting at stepping away from films.

Bachchan later clarified that he had been referring to going to bed, rather than retiring from his acting career.

Sharing a newspaper cutting about reports of his supposed retirement, he wrote that the phrase had been misunderstood.

“I wrote in the blog .. ‘it’s late, time to retire .. ‘ which we all know means retire to bed it’s late,” he wrote.

‘I Am Not Retiring From Work’

Bachchan then explained his use of the word “retire” and made it clear that he was not announcing his departure from films.

“Ji nahin huzoor, main kaam se retire nahin ho raha hoon; Angrezi mein iska matlab hota hai main ab sone jaa raha hoon. Aur wahan maanyavar aapko aane ka nimantran nahin hai,” he wrote.

In English, he said he was not retiring from work and was simply referring to going to sleep — adding with his characteristic humour that the person being addressed was not invited there.

For now, Bachchan continues to host Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, despite the minor knee injury he sustained during the show's shoot.
