Amitabh Bachchan becomes India’s highest tax-paying celebrity for FY 2024-25

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has set a new record by becoming India’s highest tax-paying celebrity for the financial year 2024-25. The veteran actor surpassed superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
According to reports, Bachchan’s total earnings for the year amounted to ₹350 crore, resulting in a tax liability of ₹120 crore.
Over the decades, he has remained a top earner in Bollywood, featuring in films, endorsements, and television projects, particularly as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), which remains a major crowd-puller.
Shah Rukh Khan, who was previously India’s highest tax-paying celebrity, has also had an exceptional year with multiple box office hits and high-profile endorsements. However, Bachchan’s earnings and tax contribution have now placed him at the top.
Amitabh Bachchan rose to fame in the 1970s with iconic films like Zanjeer, Sholay, and Deewaar, earning the title of Bollywood’s “Angry Young Man”. Over the years, he reinvented himself with critically acclaimed performances in movies like Black, Piku, and Pink.
Amitabh Bachchan had also confirmed recently that he will return as the host for the upcoming season of the popular game show, “Kaun Banega Crorepati.”
The announcement came after widespread rumors about his potential departure from the show. On March 12, the makers released a heartfelt video featuring Amitabh, where he bids an emotional farewell to the fans while confirming, “I will see you in the next season.”
