Ameesha Patel’s Parents’ Churchgate Home Burgled, Domestic Help Held Over ₹5 Lakh Jewellery Theft

Actress Ameesha Patel’s parents’ home in Mumbai’s Churchgate was allegedly burgled, with gold and diamond jewellery worth around ₹5 lakh reported stolen. The Marine Drive Police have arrested a 40-year-old domestic help, identified as Seema Ghate, in connection with the case.

Ghate, a resident of Palghar, was produced before a court, which remanded her to police custody until September 15.

Domestic Help Worked At Patel Residence For 1.5 Years

According to police, Ghate had been working as a domestic helper at Ameesha Patel’s mother Asha Patel’s residence for around one-and-a-half years.

The case came to light after Asha Patel approached the Marine Drive Police with a complaint regarding the missing jewellery. Police initially registered the case against an unidentified woman and began investigating the matter.

Bangle Reportedly Stolen In January

Police said the jewellery included a bangle allegedly stolen from the residence in January 2026.

Asha Patel reportedly suspected Ghate and had been asking her for the past five to six months to admit to the alleged theft and return the jewellery. When the jewellery was not returned, she filed a police complaint.

Based on the complaint, the Marine Drive Police registered a case under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police Trace Accused To Virar

A crime detection team, working under the guidance of a senior police inspector, traced Ghate to Virar and detained her.

She was subsequently produced before the court, which granted police custody until September 15.

Police are now investigating the recovery of the stolen jewellery and checking whether the accused has any previous criminal record. The alleged stolen bangle has not yet been recovered.

Ameesha Patel’s Acting Career

Ameesha Patel made her Bollywood debut in 2000 with Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, which became a major commercial success.

She subsequently appeared in films including Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Humraaz, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Race 2.

She returned to the Gadar franchise with Gadar 2 in 2023, reprising her role from the original film. The movie became her highest-grossing release.

Her last reported release was Tauba Tera Jalwa, directed by Akashaditya Lama, in 2024.
