The Bombay High Court on Thursday heard  the petition filed by Bollywood actor Aditya Pancholi, urging the court to cancel the rape FIR registered against him in 2019 at Versova police station in Mumbai, as per reports.

Pancholi’s  lawyer, Prashant Patil, reportedly told the court that the FIR should be set aside. The case was filed by a female Bollywood actress, who accused Pancholi of rape and other offences.

During the hearing, the police had sent 11 notices to the complainant, but she did not appear for questioning. After hearing this, the high  court issued a fresh notice to her and asked her to be present on the next hearing date, which is February 24, as per reports.

The FIR was registered on June 27, 2019. It includes several serious charges under the Indian Penal Code, such as rape, restraint, wrongful confinement, assault, and criminal intimidation.

In his petition, Pancholi reportedly claimed that the complaint was filed nearly 15 years after the alleged incident. He has called the FIR a false accusation and requested the court to quash it on legal grounds.

Soon after the FIR was filed in 2019, Pancholi had said that he was falsely implicated in the case. The matter is still pending before the Bombay High Court. The next hearing will take place on February 24.
