Actor Michael B Jordan has won the ‘Outstanding Actor’ award for his leading role in the movie ‘Sinners’ at the Actor Awards. He won the award beating actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke, and Timothee Chalamet.

Jordan won the award for his film ‘Sinners’ in which he played twin brothers named Smoke and Stack who return to their hometown for a fresh start, only to face a malevolent force. The film is directed by Ryan Coogler, mainly known for his ‘Black Panther’ film.

He thanked Coogler for giving him this opportunity. “I want to thank Ryan Coogler for giving him this opportunity to do what he can do,” Jordan said in his speech.​

Jordan went emotional after he won the award. “I wasn’t expecting this at all,” he said from the podium at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. He added, “Just being in this room right now with all these people who’ve seen me grow up in front of the camera… I feel the love and support that you’ve always given me.”

During his speech, he also shouted out for his mom and thanked her for ‘driving him back and forth to New York’.

“Mom, thank you for driving me back and forth to New York when we didn't have enough money to go through the Holland Tunnel,” he said.
