Aaradhya Bachchan moves to Delhi high court over misleading information

Aaradhya Bachchan, the daughter of actors Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, has approached the Delhi High Court seeking the removal of misleading and false information circulated about her online.

Earlier in 2023, false reports surfaced on the internet claiming that Aaradhya had passed away or was critically ill.

The Delhi High Court had previously ordered the removal of false videos and news related to these claims. Now, the court has sought a response from Google regarding the matter.

What’s the Case?

In 2023, Aaradhya Bachchan filed an application in court against the spread of misinformation about her health on YouTube and Google. Channels such as Bollywood Time, Bolly Pakora, and Bolly Samosa had falsely depicted that she was in a morbid condition or critically ill.

In response to the application, the court directed Google to remove all such content and ordered the disclosure of the sources behind the misinformation.

The court had emphasised that every child has the right to live with dignity and that such false information could harm the child’s image and reputation.
