Silver drops ₹5,400, Gold falls by ₹1,700 after Akshay Tritiya rush
On Multi Commodity Exchange (MCE), gold prices dropped by around ₹1,700 per 10 grams, while silver fell by up to ₹5,400 per kg. Gold and Silver prices saw a sharp fall on Monday just after heavy buying during Akshay Tritiya.
On Monday morning, gold for June delivery was trading at about ₹1,53,240 per 10 grams, which is nearly 1% lower. Silver price also dropped by around 2%, reaching ₹2,52,236 per kg
In major cities, gold prices remained high despite fall. In Ahmedabad, 24-carat gold was priced at ₹1,53,250 and silver at ₹2,53,430 per kg. In Mumbai, gold was at ₹1,52,960, while in Delhi it was ₹1,52,700. Chennai recorded the highest gold prices at ₹1,53,490 per 10 grams.
On Akshay Tritiya, gold and silver worth nearly ₹20,000 crore were sold across India, as per reports, showing strong demand. With prices now falling, experts believe that more buyers may return to the market in the coming days.
