Several Indian public sector banks' digital services face disruptions

Multiple public sector bank digital banking platforms appeared to face service disruptions on Friday, according to outage-tracking website Downdetector.

The platform showed warning indicators against several banking services, including SBI Net Banking, PNB Net Banking, Canara Bank Net Banking, Bank of Baroda Net Banking, UCO Bank Net Banking, Indian Overseas Bank Net Banking, IDBI Bank Net Banking, Punjab & Sind Bank Net Banking, BOB World App and Bank of Baroda's digital services.

The disruptions resulted in users unable to transfer money through Unified Payments Interface (UPI), a major concern for many who rely on online transactions ahead of the weekend.

At the same time, some services, including SBI YONO, Bank of India Net Banking, Central Bank Net Banking, Union Bank Net Banking, Indian Bank Net Banking and Bank of Maharashtra Net Banking, were marked as operational.

The outage tracker did not immediately specify the exact nature or cause of the reported disruptions. It also remained unclear whether the issues were affecting all users or were limited to certain regions and services.

Users on social media reported difficulties accessing internet banking platforms and completing online transactions, although the concerned banks had not issued any immediate statements regarding the reported outages at the time of writing.

Downdetector tracks service disruptions based on user-submitted reports and other publicly available signals. A spike in reports does not necessarily confirm a widespread outage but may indicate service issues being experienced by users.

More details are awaited as banks and service providers assess the situation.
