Patanjali challenges Delhi high court order on Chyawanprash ads

Patanjali Ayurved Ltd and Patanjali Foods Ltd have approached the Delhi High Court’s Commercial Appellate Division, challenging an earlier order that restricted parts of their advertising campaign for Patanjali Special Chyawanprash.
The order, issued in July by Justice Mini Pushkarna, came in response to a lawsuit filed by Dabur, which alleged that Patanjali’s advertisements disparaged rival Chyawanprash products.
In her interim ruling on July 3, Justice Pushkarna directed Patanjali to remove phrases such as, Why settle for ordinary Chyawanprash made with 40 herbs? from print campaigns. The Court also required edits to a television commercial that implied Chyawanprash made without Ayurvedic expertise was not authentic. The ads were allowed to continue only after these modifications.
Patanjali has now filed an appeal seeking to overturn the restrictions, arguing against the directions imposed on its marketing campaign.
