Announcing the development on Wednesday, Thomas Kurian, CEO of google cloud said the partnership will help deliver a more comprehensive security platform for customers using cloud and hybrid environments.

“Today, we announced that Google has completed its acquisition of Wiz. Together, we’ll provide customers with a comprehensive platform to secure their cloud and hybrid environments. Sundar Pichai also welcomed the company on social media platform X, writing, “Welcome to the team Wiz!”

Wiz confirmed the development in its own announcement, stating: “It’s official: Wiz joins Google to secure the AI era. This is a massive moment for our customers and our team.” The company thanked customers, partners and employees

referred to internally as ‘Wizards’ for supporting its journey.

The company said the move comes at a time when artificial intelligence and cloud computing are rapidly transforming how applications are built and deployed. According to Wiz, generative AI is increasingly becoming a core part of modern organisations, enabling applications to move from idea to production much faster.

The company had initially revealed nearly a year ago that it planned to join Google, highlighting a shared vision of redefining cloud security.
