Three unidentified men allegedly assaulted a hotel manager and looted cash and electronic items worth nearly ₹92,000 from a guest house in the Thaltej area of Ahmedabad in the early hours of Monday, police said.

As per a complaint lodged at Bodakdev Police Station, the incident took place around 3.45 am at Hotel Rajvanshi Guest House, located on the second floor of Sahajanand Complex, near Thaltej Bhaikakanagar bus stand.

Muthsingh Shivji Purohit (57), who runs the guest house, stated that he was at his residence when he received a call from the hotel manager, Giriraj Meena, informing him about the robbery. Purohit rushed to the spot thereafter.

Police said the accused, described as thin-built men aged between 25 and 30 years, arrived at the hotel posing as customers seeking accommodation. They reportedly asked the manager to show them a room and were taken to Room No. 203. Once inside, the men allegedly overpowered Meena, assaulted him with a whip-like object, and threatened him to reveal the location of cash.

During the attack, another accomplice joined them, and the group forced the manager to hand over the keys to the reception counter. When he resisted, they allegedly beat and intimidated him before breaking open the counter and the locker.

The accused fled with approximately ₹2,000 from the hotel counter and ₹72,000 kept in the locker. They also stole a computer monitor and a television set, each valued at around ₹5,000, along with two mobile phones worth ₹8000 in total, taking the total value of stolen property to around ₹92,000.

CCTV footage from the premises captured the suspects entering the hotel. One of them was seen wearing a white shirt, while the others were dressed in dark-coloured clothing. Police said a fourth accomplice was spotted waiting on the staircase of the complex.

After committing the crime, all four men allegedly escaped in a white car towards Thaltej village.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case of robbery and assault and launched an investigation. Officials said efforts are under way to identify and trace the accused using CCTV footage and other technical evidence.

“The FIR has been registered and investigation has been taken up. The complainant has confirmed the contents of the report,” a police officer said.

No injuries of a serious nature were reported, though the manager sustained minor injuries during the assault, police added.
