Online retail giant Amazon's celebrated tech called 'just walk out', was allegedly run by 1,000 Indian employees working in the backend, claims the reports.

‘Just walk out’ technology, claiming to be artificial intelligence (AI)-backed technology, did not require customers to wait for check out at Amazon's brick-and-mortar stores.

In place of traditional checkout counters, the customers would just leave the store and the bills were sent to them by tracking their purchases via in-store cameras.

However, the reports now claim that the technology was powered by 1,000 India-based human workers, and not the AI.

An Amazon spokesperson refuted the claims, saying that the India-based team was there to train the AI-model, and would rarely validate the purchase when the computers could not pick up the details, reported the media.
