3,000 new posts under 112 Jan Rakshak, India’s largest library to come up in Gandhinagar

Gujarat Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai presented a budget of Rs 4,08,053 crore in the Gujarat Assembly on Wednesday for the financial year 2026-27, an increase of Rs 37,803 crore compared to last year. The budget had an estimated surplus of Rs 974 crore. Two decisions were announced in the budget related to recruitment for youth, in which 3,000 posts will be created for DIAL 112 Jan Rakshak and 1,546 new posts will be created in revenue offices. 

A total provision of Rs 14,265 crore has been made for the Home Department, with 3,000 new posts to be created under the DIAL 112 Jan Rakshak project. Apart from this, there are plans to provide 20,444 houses for police personnel in the next five years. A provision of Rs 1,571 crore has been made for this purpose. An amount of Rs 136 crore has been allocated for the construction of 107 non-residential houses of the state police, including offices in various districts, police stations, and Rs 20 crore set aside for the purchase of four Anti Drone Systems to destroy Rogue Drones. Moreover, a provision of Rs 9 crore has been made for the purchase of 50 Special Operational Vehicles to strengthen police patrolling in districts with inter-state and international borders.

In addition, new posts have also been created for the revenue department in the budget. A total provision of Rs 5,552 crore has been made for the revenue department, of which Rs 2,145 crore has been made for providing relief against natural calamities. An allocation of Rs 240 crore has been made for the construction of new revenue buildings in Surendranagar, Mahudha, Maliya, Lathi, Tankara, Umreth, Abrama and expansion of existing revenue buildings at Daskroi, Thasra and Patan and construction of a colony for an estimated 562 revenue employees in 51 talukas. The creation of 1,546 new posts at various revenue offices was also announced.

The country’s largest and most modern Namo Central Library will be set up in Gandhinagar. In which study and reading facilities will be made available in digital form. For which a provision of ₹100 crore has been made. Also, as part of the plan to set up Bhagwan Birsa Munda Library in all talukas of tribal areas, libraries will be set up in 15 talukas this year.

The interest of students in science stream has increased through Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana. Due to which the total admission has increased by 19% in the last two years. For which a provision of ₹250 crore has been made.

Provision has also been made for providing transport/escort allowance as part of the transport system for differently-abled studying in schools and other facilities.

To promote industrialisation in the tribal areas and provide employment opportunities, five new industrial estates will be set up, two in Jhalod and Garbada talukas of Dahod district and three in other districts, including Aravalli district.

Contributing 19% to the country's industrial production, Gujarat has a very strong MSME (Small and Medium Enterprises) ecosystem for employment generation. Gujarat is among the leading states with more than 29 lakh MSME registrations. To encourage these units, the FM proposed a provision of ₹1,775 crore for the Self-Reliant Gujarat Scheme for Assistance to MSMEs.

With the effective implementation of Namo Lakshmi Yojana, there has been a significant increase in the school enrolment of girl students studying in classes 9 to 12 in the last two years. For which a provision of ₹1,250 crore has been made. To encourage women representation, announcement of a new ‘Namo Kaushalya Lakshmi Yojana’ for all daughters studying in ITIs of the state, a provision of ₹40 crore has been made.
