ST Bus Mounts Footpath Near Bhavnagar Station, Crushes Mother and Daughter to Death

A speeding state transport bus veered out of control outside the Bhavnagar bus terminal on Wednesday morning, mounting the pavement and killing a woman and her seven-year-old daughter instantly.

The vehicle, operating on the local Sihor-Tana-Varal route, was exiting the central depot when the driver reportedly lost control. Witnesses reported that the vehicle failed to brake, crashing through citizens seated along the pedestrian pathway before slamming into the boundary wall of the adjacent Bharucha Club.

Fatalities and Emergency Response

Emergency officials identified the deceased as 28-year-old Lalitaben Parmar and her 7-year-old daughter, Sonia Parmar, residents of Ramdhari Sanosara village. Both victims sustained critical head injuries and died before medical teams arrived.

A third pedestrian, identified as Madhu Vaghela from Thoda-Umarala, suffered severe multi-trauma injuries. First responders dispatched via a 108 ambulance service transferred her to the nearest district government hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Police Investigation Underway

Local police units cordoned off the area shortly after the collision to manage crowd control and clear the roadway. Authorities towed the vehicle from the site to resume normal traffic operations around the station precinct.

Officers have registered a case regarding the incident and initiated a formal inquiry to determine whether the crash stemmed from mechanical brake failure or driver negligence. State Transport Corporation officials are expected to review the maintenance logs of the vehicle involved.
