Three Cops Nabbed Accepting ₹1 Lakh Bribe to Release Seized Mobile

Three police personnel posted in Bharuch district have been caught by the Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a ₹1 lakh bribe in a trap operation conducted on Monday.

The accused have been identified as Assistant Head Constables Aniruddhbhai Valkubhai Dhadhal and Jaydeepsinh Sukhdevsinh Parmar, and Lok Rakshak Police Constable Sagarbhai Karanbhai Chavda.

Bribe Allegedly Sought to Return Seized Mobile Phone

According to the ACB, the complainant had earlier been booked under the Prohibition Act at Panoli Police Station and was sent to sub-jail. After securing bail, the complainant approached the police station to retrieve his seized mobile phone.

The ACB alleged that two of the accused demanded ₹3 lakh to return the phone. When the complainant expressed his inability to arrange the amount, the accused allegedly agreed to accept the money in three instalments of ₹1 lakh each.

ACB Lays Trap

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau, which organised a trap.

During the operation, the complainant allegedly handed over the first instalment of ₹1 lakh to Lok Rakshak Police Constable Sagarbhai Chavda on the instructions of the other accused. The ACB caught the accused red-handed while accepting the money.

Investigation Underway

The trap was conducted inside the D-Staff chamber located in a container opposite Panoli Police Station in Bharuch district.

The operation was led by Police Inspector M.J. Shinde of the ACB Bharuch unit under the supervision of senior ACB officials.

The ACB has registered a case against all three accused under the relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is underway.
