Class 2 Student Allegedly Beaten With Pipe By Teacher In Bharuch, Case Filed

A teacher at Kumar Primary School in Ekhbar village of Amod taluka, Bharuch district, has been booked after allegedly assaulting an eight-year-old Class 2 student with a plastic pipe over his inability to read, police said.

The complaint was filed by the boy’s father, Rizwan Diwan, at Amod police station. The child was later taken for medical treatment after marks and injuries were noticed on his body.

Child Allegedly Beaten On Thighs And Back

According to the complaint, the boy had gone to school as usual when teacher Mubarak Yusufbhai Vora allegedly held his hand and beat him with a plastic pipe.

The alleged assault left visible red marks on the child’s thighs and back. His mother noticed the injuries when the boy returned home and changed his clothes.

The incident later came to light through local reports, following which the child was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Teacher Booked Under Juvenile Justice Act

Based on the father’s complaint, Amod police registered a case against Vora under sections relating to causing hurt, verbal abuse and criminal intimidation. Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act has also been invoked.

Police are taking steps to locate and arrest the accused teacher.

Case Raises Questions Over Corporal Punishment

The incident has once again brought attention to physical punishment in schools. Teachers are not permitted to subject students to violent or degrading treatment, and allegations of serious physical assault can lead to criminal action.
