Financial Distress Turns Fatal in Savarkundla as Father Kills Daughter, Stores Body in Freezer, Then Dies by Suicide

A tragic incident was reported in Hadida village of Savarkundla taluka, where a 42-year-old man allegedly killed his five-year-old daughter before dying by suicide, reportedly amid financial distress caused by unpaid dues from construction work.

The deceased, identified as Kishorbhai Nathabhai Dhanak, a native of Palitana, was living in a rented house in Hadida and working as a construction supervisor.

His body was found at his residence. When family members searched for his five-year-old daughter Himanshi, her body was reportedly discovered inside a refrigerator, leaving the family and local residents shocked.

₹7.25 lakh allegedly stuck in construction business

According to preliminary information, Dhanak had invested borrowed money and personal loan funds in construction work. He reportedly had outstanding payments of approximately ₹7.25 lakh, which he had not received despite repeated expectations.

His wife, Manjulaben, had travelled to her parental village, Barpatoli, on September 14 to attend a Rishi Panchami gathering. Kishorbhai and their daughter had remained at home.

When she returned the following day, she found the house locked. Kishorbhai reportedly told her over the phone that he and their daughter were staying at a friend’s house in Mahuva and that she should go to her father’s home, after which he would come to pick her up.

However, he did not return, and subsequent attempts to contact him failed. After a family member was sent to Hadida, relatives reached the house and discovered the incident.

Three notes recovered

Police reportedly recovered three notes allegedly written by Kishorbhai before his death. In the notes, he referred to the unpaid amount, his financial difficulties and his decision involving his daughter.

The incident has triggered grief across the region, while further investigation into the circumstances is underway.
