According to the complaint filed by 29-year-old Roshni Hanumanbhai Yadav, who lives in a shanty in Santoshi Nagar, Bhaiyaji Ni Chali, Sardarnagar, and works as a lawyer, there had been a shortage of water in the area and an illegal encroachment had obstructed a public passage.
Roshni said she had submitted a complaint to the AMC on September 10 regarding the issues. Acting on the complaint, an AMC team carried out action in the area on Friday morning and sealed Bhairavnath Traders, a shop allegedly belonging to local businessman Prakash Bhalaji Khijadia.
Chilli Water Allegedly Splashed on Siblings
According to the complaint, at around 9 am, Roshni was travelling to court with her brother, Daman Yadav, on an Activa scooter (GJ-01-LY-1588).
When they reached near Bhairavnath Traders, around four women allegedly splashed chilli water on them.
At the same time, Prakash Khijadia, Brijesh Marwadi, Kamlesh Marwadi, Piththa Marwadi and Shankar Marwadi allegedly arrived carrying iron rods and wooden sticks and attacked the siblings.
Woman Lawyer Sustains Head Injury
The complainant alleged that Prakash struck her on the head with an iron rod, leaving her bleeding heavily.
During the scuffle, her ₹15,000 mobile phone, a half-tola gold chain valued at ₹30,000, and a pair of gold earrings weighing around 5-6 grams and valued at ₹30,000 went missing, according to the complaint.
The total value of the missing belongings has been estimated at ₹75,000.
Injured Siblings Shifted to Civil Hospital
Following the incident, the emergency services 108 and 112 were informed. The injured woman lawyer and her brother were taken to the Trauma Centre at Civil Hospital for treatment.
The Sardarnagar police have registered a case against the accused and are investigating the alleged assault as well as the missing valuables.
