Dariyapur PI and Two Sub-Inspectors Suspended Following Massive SMC Gambling Raid

Gujarat DGP GS Malik has suspended Dariyapur Police Inspector G V Gohil along with Police Sub-Inspectors V C Chaudhary and A M Parmar after a late-night State Monitoring Cell (SMC) raid exposed a massive gambling ring operating unchecked in their beat.

The disciplinary blow comes directly from the top brass following allegations of gross supervisory failure and dereliction of duty.

Midnight Raid at Manpasand Gymkhana Traps 187 Persons

The incident traces back to the night of August 2, when an SMC squad bypassed local precinct channels to execute a surprise raid on the Manpasand Gymkhana Club premises in Dariyapur.

The elite monitoring team rounded up 187 individuals from the spot and impounded lakhs of rupees in cash, playing cards, and electronic gadgets. Local station officers were kept entirely in the dark until the operation concluded, raising uncomfortable questions inside police headquarters about how an operation of this magnitude flourished under the nose of station staff.

Senior Officers Cited for Negligence and Lack of Oversight

State police leadership initiated strict administrative proceedings after reviewing the SMC's detailed raid report, concluding that the local precinct hierarchy failed to gather basic intelligence or actively overlooked the illicit establishment.

While senior Ahmedabad City Police officials confirmed on Friday that formal paperwork was making its way through official channels, headquarters confirmed the suspension directives were signed and dispatched.

To prevent administrative disruption at the station, interim charge of Dariyapur precinct has been handed over to the Police Inspector of neighbouring Shahibaug police station pending permanent postings.
