SUV Hits Four Two-Wheelers, Crashes Into House Wall In Paldi; Two Injured

Two people were injured after a Ford Endeavour driven by gym trainer Zabir Shaikh allegedly hit four two-wheelers and crashed into a house wall in Paldi, Ahmedabad, on Sunday night.

The accident occurred around 9 pm on October 25 near Maniben’s Chali and New Varsha Flat on Riverfront P T College Road. Police said Shaikh reportedly lost control of the SUV after its steering wheel got stuck.

According to a complaint filed with the Traffic N Division police, the SUV first struck a parked Hero Splendor motorcycle outside the house of Mohanji Shivaji Thakor, 57, a casual labourer who was sleeping on a cot nearby.

The impact sent the motorcycle into the cot, throwing Thakor off and injuring him. The SUV then allegedly rammed into three other two-wheelers parked in the settlement before crashing into a wall belonging to Baldevji Babuji Thakor.

Two Injured, Discharged After Treatment

Police Inspector H D Sodha of the Traffic N Division police station said the driver had reportedly lost control of the vehicle because its steering wheel got stuck while he was driving. He added that Shaikh was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Another resident, Chandubhai Kalubhai Nayak, was also injured in the collision. An ambulance operated by the 108 emergency service took both Thakor and Nayak to VS Hospital, where they received outpatient treatment before being discharged, according to the complaint.

Police said no other person was injured in the incident.

Damage Estimated at ₹85,000

The collision damaged four two-wheelers and a house wall, with the total loss estimated at approximately ₹85,000.

The damaged vehicles included an Activa belonging to Baldevji Babuji Thakor, a motorcycle owned by the complainant’s son, Rajubhai, a motorcycle belonging to Sunilbhai Chandubhai Nayak, and Thakor’s Hero Splendor.

According to the complaint, the estimated damage amounted to ₹5,000 for the Activa, ₹20,000 for Rajubhai’s motorcycle, ₹5,000 for Sunilbhai Chandubhai Nayak’s motorcycle and ₹5,000 for the Hero Splendor. The damage to the house wall was estimated at ₹50,000.

Thakor later approached the Traffic N Division police along with Nayak and the owners of the damaged vehicles to file a complaint against the SUV driver.
