Subhash bridge demolition progresses as Shahibaug-side span safely dismantled

The demolition of Ahmedabad's Subhash Bridge reached another milestone on Saturday, with the Shahibaug-side span being successfully dismantled in a carefully monitored operation, civic authorities said.

According to officials, the span was brought down safely under the supervision of technical experts and the appointed contractor, with strict adherence to all prescribed safety protocols throughout the operation.

Authorities said the demolition was continuously monitored to ensure that every stage of the process complied with established engineering and safety standards. The span was removed without any untoward incident.

Demolition under controlled environment

As part of the precautionary measures, the entire demolition site was barricaded and declared a restricted zone. Public access to the bridge and its immediate surroundings was prohibited during the operation to minimise risk and enable the work to be carried out in a controlled environment.

Following the successful dismantling of the Shahibaug-side span, debris clearance work has commenced immediately at the site. Officials said the removal of the rubble will be undertaken in phases before the next stage of the demolition project begins as per the scheduled plan.
