The LCB Zone-8 team has arrested Shersingh alias Sheru Kalusingh Telpitiya, the alleged mastermind of the notorious Sikligar gang, in Ramol, solving eight theft cases across three Ahmedabad police station jurisdictions.
The arrest was made near Vadu Talav in Ramol village during Operation Hunt, a police drive targeting suspects wanted in crimes against people and property. Police recovered stolen property from the accused and launched a search for his three alleged accomplices.
Luxury Car Used to Escape After Thefts
According to police, the gang followed a planned method to break into locked houses, shops and warehouses. Members would travel in a luxury car and park near the target area, often close to the Ring Road.
They would then allegedly steal a motorcycle from the vicinity and use it to reach pre-selected properties. After breaking locks and stealing cash and jewellery, they would abandon the motorcycle in an isolated location and escape in their own car.
Police said the gang used this method to conceal its movements and make it harder to trace the vehicles used during the crimes.
Eight Theft Cases Solved in Ahmedabad
The arrest has helped police solve eight cases registered at three police stations in Ahmedabad.
- Ramol Police Station: 3 cases
- Vatva GIDC Police Station: 3 cases
- Amraiwadi Police Station: 2 cases
Total: 8 cases solved.
Investigators said Shersingh, a native of Khambhat, allegedly operated the gang and guided its members on carrying out thefts.
More Than 30 Cases Registered Across Gujarat
Police investigations have revealed that more than 30 cases have been registered against the gang across Gujarat. The accused is also reported to have a criminal record involving theft and robbery in areas including Vadodara, Nadiad, Ambliyara, Jetpur and Balasinor.
The investigation is continuing, with police searching for the other suspected gang members and examining the gang's possible involvement in additional theft cases.
