A 21-year-old scooter rider was killed and a 26-year-old pedestrian injured in a road accident near Jagatpur Cut on SG Highway in the early hours of Thursday.

Activa Hits Pedestrian Crossing Road

According to a complaint filed by Pawan Narayan Kalaswa, 28, the accident occurred around 12.10 am on October 8 on the stretch connecting Vaishnodevi and Gota. The Activa was allegedly being driven rashly and negligently by Meet Hiteshkumar Patel, a resident of Naranpura.

The complaint states that Pawan’s younger brother, Shankar Narayan Kalaswa, 26, had arrived in Ahmedabad from his native village in Rajasthan and got off at Jagatpur Cut on SG Highway. While crossing the road to reach a tea stall on the opposite side, he was allegedly hit by the Activa.

Shankar sustained injuries to his body and left heel. Patel also suffered serious injuries, including to his head, in the collision.

Both men were taken to Sola Civil Hospital in separate 108 ambulance services. Doctors declared Patel dead at 12.53 am, while Shankar was undergoing treatment and was semi-conscious, according to police.

Pedestrian Was Returning From Rajasthan

Pawan said he learnt about the incident early Thursday morning after police informed him that his brother had been admitted to Sola Civil Hospital. He subsequently reached the hospital.
