Security Guard Chased and Beaten With Belt in Ahmedabad's Saijpur Bogha; Police Arrest 7

Seven people have been arrested for allegedly attacking a 36-year-old security guard in Ahmedabad’s Saijpur Bogha over an old dispute, chasing him along the road and assaulting him with a belt.

The incident took place on November 1, when a group allegedly lured the victim outside his relative’s house on the pretext of settling their differences. The attackers also recorded the assault, while allegedly spreading a false rumour that the security guard had harassed a girl to prevent locals from intervening. Videos of the incident later circulated on social media.

Old Dispute Led to Attack

According to the complaint, the dispute began on October 31 when the victim objected to Rahul Luhar repeatedly loitering near his residential locality. The two reportedly got into an argument.

The previous day, on October 30, another accused, identified as Lakhan Patil, had allegedly visited the victim's house and threatened his wife.

Following threatening phone calls from Rahul on November 1, the security guard became frightened and shifted temporarily with his family to his cousin's house near Saijpur Tower.

Five Men Arrive on Pretext of Settlement

At around 10.30 pm on November 1, Rahul Luhar, Lakhan Patil, Anand Patil, Ramesh Luhar and Mehul Luhar allegedly arrived at the house, claiming they wanted to settle the dispute.

However, as the victim came outside, the five men, along with another group of around 10 to 15 people, allegedly abused and assaulted him.

Rahul reportedly attacked the victim with his waist belt as the group chased him along the road and beat him.

False Harassment Allegation Used to Stop Locals

During the assault, Karan Luhar allegedly recorded a video of the attack, while Mehul Luhar allegedly misled people who attempted to rescue the victim by claiming that he had harassed a girl.

The attackers also allegedly tore the victim's clothes and threatened to kill him if he approached the police. They fled after the assault.

Viral Video Leads to Police Action

The assault video circulated on social media, prompting police to investigate the incident. After establishing the details and receiving the victim's complaint, police arrested seven people in connection with the attack.

The case relates to an alleged personal dispute that escalated into a group assault in the Saijpur Bogha area.
