Section Of Historic Ahmed Shah's Jama Masjid Wall Collapses After Heavy Rain In Ahmedabad

A section of the boundary wall of the historic Ahmed Shah's Old Jama Masjid near Lal Darwaja collapsed in the early hours of Sunday following days of heavy rainfall, raising concerns over the structural stability of the city's heritage monuments.

No injuries or casualties were reported, as the area was relatively deserted when the wall gave way.

Wall Facing Prohibition Department Office Collapses

According to local sources, the collapsed portion of the wall is located on the side facing the office of the Prohibition and Excise Department.

The structure is believed to have weakened following persistent rainfall over the past few days, eventually resulting in the collapse.

Management Seeks Urgent Repairs

Following the incident, the mosque's management expressed concern that continued rainfall could weaken other portions of the boundary wall and cause further damage to the historic structure.

The caretakers have urged the authorities to conduct an immediate structural assessment and undertake the necessary restoration and reinforcement work.
