Sales Executive Arrested for Stealing ₹5.9 Lakh Jewellery From Palladium Mall Store

Vastrapur police have launched a search for a sales executive accused of stealing gold and diamond jewellery worth ₹5.90 lakh from the Orra Fine Jewellery showroom inside Palladium Mall in Thaltej.

The suspect, Darshan Ashwinbhai Soni, a resident of New Wadaj, allegedly acquired the 'Orra' store keys from a colleague under the pretext of retrieving a forgotten bag before executing the late-night theft. Store manager complaints led Vastrapur police to register a formal case, triggering a probe into the incident.

How the Palladium Mall Heist Unfolded

On 17 August 2026, showroom staff member Mohammad Saqlein Sheikh completed the daily inventory counting and locked the premises at around 9:00 PM. Sheikh then stepped outside the mall for tea.

Soni approached Sheikh outside the complex, claiming he had left his personal bag inside the showroom. Sheikh handed over the keys, which Soni returned roughly half an hour later.

The loss came to light the following morning at 11:30 AM when employee Urvashi conducted routine checks and discovered three high-value items missing—a bangle, a chain, and a mangalsutra.

CCTV Footage Exposes Inside Job

Management reviewed internal security cameras and spotted Soni opening the showroom around 10:00 PM on 17 August to steal the ornaments. After consulting senior corporate officials, store management lodged a complaint at Vastrapur police station.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage from corridor cameras and entry points to verify if Soni acted alone or had accomplices waiting outside during the break-in.

Police are also verifying whether staff breached company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) by handing store keys to another employee after official closing hours. Key-holder Sheikh may face questioning regarding the breach of protocol as police attempt to track down Soni.
