Rickshaw-Taxi Strike Halts AMTS Religious Bus Service for Four Days, Temple Tours to Resume on September 11

The Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) has suspended its special religious bus service from September 7 to 10 due to the ongoing rickshaw and taxi strike. The service, arranged for devotees during Paryushan Parva and Shravan Month, will now resume from September 11.

Religious Bus Service Put on Hold

AMTS had announced special non-AC buses from September 8 to help devotees visit temples and religious places across Ahmedabad and nearby areas.

However, the strike by rickshaw and taxi drivers from September 7 to 10 has created unforeseen circumstances, prompting AMTS to temporarily suspend the service.

AMTS Committee Chairman Parag Naik said the service had been planned as it is every year for devotees observing Shravan Month and Paryushan Parva.

Temple Tours to Resume From September 11

The special service will restart on September 11, with buses taking devotees to various temples along designated routes.

The bus will depart at 8.15 am and return at 4.45 pm after completing the temple darshan circuit.

Bookings Available From Four Termini

Devotees can book the religious bus service from the Laldarwaja, Sarangpur, Vadaj and Maninagar termini.

The fare for a bus booked by citizens within Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation limits is ₹ 3,000, while citizens within AUDA limits will have to pay ₹ 5,000.

At the time of booking, applicants must submit a copy of their property tax bill along with the completed receipt.

Each bus normally has 30 seats, but arrangements have been made to accommodate up to 40 passengers.

Temples Covered Under Special Service

The religious bus routes will cover temples and religious sites including Hathisingni Wadi-Madhupura, Rajpur-Gomtipur, Padmavati Mataji-Naroda, Koba, Tapovan-Motera, Merudham Tirth, Oganaj, Sherisa, Gokul Dham, Godhavi, Bakrol, Sarkhej, Hathijan and Prernatirth.

Other stops include Adeshwar Jain Temple in Shahpur, Jag Vallabh Parshvanath on Relief Road, Haripura, Devkinandan Jain Sangh in Naranpura and Ambli Jain Sangh.

The AMTS religious bus service, originally scheduled during the Shravan and Paryushan period, will therefore remain suspended for four days before restarting on September 11.
