A 45-year-old woman has lodged a police complaint after a man allegedly broke into a locked room on the third floor of her family’s house in Ahmedabad's Gomtipur and vandalised household belongings over a dispute dating back around 15 days.
The incident took place around 5 am on Monday, October 26, at Ranchhod Parag ni Chali in Gomtipur. The accused, identified as Parth Parmar, allegedly damaged a cupboard, utensils, a steel stand and a bathroom door before threatening the family with physical violence.
Gomtipur police have registered a case against the accused and initiated further investigation.
Old Dispute Over Uncle’s Injury Triggers Fresh Trouble
According to the complaint filed by Gauriben Dineshbhai Chauhan, 45, her family owns a three-storey house in Ranchhod Parag ni Chali. She now lives in Mahadev Nagar near Vastral Metro Station and works as a cleaner.
Her brother-in-law and his family occupy parts of the Gomtipur house, while her son, Vishal, used to visit the third-floor room.
Around 15 days ago, Vishal allegedly had an altercation with the son of Jayantibhai Dahyabhai Parmar, who lives in the same chali. Jayantibhai sustained an injury to his arm, following which a police complaint was reportedly filed against Vishal.
Cupboard, Utensils and Bathroom Door Smashed
Gauriben said her brother-in-law, Vijaybhai, called her around 5.30 am on Monday and informed her that Parth Parmar had vandalised the third-floor room.
When she reached the house with her daughters, she found the cupboard glass, utensils, steel stand and fibre bathroom doors damaged.
According to Vijaybhai’s account, Parth had knocked on the door around 5 am and allegedly said he had vandalised the room because Vishal had broken his uncle Jayantibhai’s arm.
The accused allegedly warned the family that if Vishal’s name was mentioned again, they would break his arms and legs.
Gomtipur Police Register Case
Following the incident, the family alerted the police control room. Gomtipur police subsequently registered a case against Parth Parmar and began legal proceedings.
The complaint links the alleged vandalism and threats to the earlier dispute over Jayantibhai’s injury. Further investigation is under way to establish the circumstances of the incident and the accused’s role.
