A woman was allegedly attacked with a sickle by her husband after she refused to give him money for expenses in Ahmedabad’s Ramol area on Saturday night. Two men accompanying him allegedly beat her mother with wooden sticks before fleeing with the husband.

Ramol police have registered a case against the husband, identified as Nisar Khan Nasir Khan Pathan, a resident of Mahemdavad, and two unidentified men.

Husband Repeatedly Demanded Money

Ruksar Banu Pathan, 30, lives with her mother, Raisabanu, in Madani Nagar in Jantanagar, Ramol. She married Nisar Khan, who lives in Rehmatnagar Society in Mahemdavad, four years ago.

The couple reportedly began having differences within four days of their marriage, after which Ruksar Banu returned to her parental home. Her husband, who allegedly did not have a job, frequently visited her and quarrelled with her over demands for money.

Wife Attacked With Sickle, Mother Beaten

At around 8.30 pm on Saturday, Nisar Khan arrived at his wife’s home in an autorickshaw with two unidentified associates. When Ruksar Banu refused to give him money, he allegedly became aggressive and started abusing her.

When her mother intervened, the three men allegedly assaulted her. During the scuffle, Ruksar Banu fell to the ground, following which Nisar Khan took a sickle from the autorickshaw and struck her two to three times on her right leg below the knee.

The two men accompanying him allegedly beat Raisabanu repeatedly with wooden sticks, injuring her arms and legs.

Injured Mother and Daughter Taken to Hospital

After hearing the commotion, local residents rushed to the spot. The accused allegedly threatened to kill the women if they returned and fled in the autorickshaw.

The injured mother and daughter were taken by an emergency ambulance to Asarwa Civil Hospital. Doctors reportedly advised surgery for Ruksar Banu’s leg.

Ramol police have registered a case against the three accused and launched an investigation.
