Ramol Firing Over House Dispute: BSF Jawan Allegedly Shoots Retired Army Cousin In Thigh

A dispute over a house turned violent during a reconciliation meeting near Takshshila Cross Road in Ahmedabad’s Ramol area on Sunday afternoon, when a serving BSF jawan allegedly opened fire at his retired Army jawan cousin, hitting him in the thigh, police said.

The injured man, identified as 54-year-old Rajeshbhai Harishankarbhai Prajapati, was rushed to a hospital for treatment. His condition is not reported to be critical.

The firing allegedly took place around 1 pm when members of the Prajapati family had gathered to resolve a long-standing dispute concerning the ownership or division of a house. During the meeting, an argument broke out between the relatives.

According to preliminary information, 46-year-old Pramod Ram Prasad Shiv Dayal Prajapati, who is serving with the Border Security Force (BSF), allegedly lost his temper, took out a weapon and fired at Rajeshbhai. The bullet struck the latter’s thigh, leaving him bleeding and injured.

The sound of the gunshot caused panic in the area, following which senior police officials and a team from Ramol police station rushed to the spot.

Police detained Pramod Prajapati along with the weapon and also rounded up other people who were present at the reconciliation meeting. Officers are now questioning those detained to ascertain their individual roles in the incident.

Police said legal proceedings are being initiated and the complaint is being drafted. Further investigation is underway.
