Ramol Blast: SIT Formed as Illegal Factory Razed, Two More Units Sealed

A day after the deadly explosion at an illegal firecracker factory in Mehmudpura under Ahmedabad's Ramol police limits claimed nine lives, the Ahmedabad Police Commissioner has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident.

The development comes as authorities intensified action against illegal firecracker units in the area.

Illegal Factory Demolished Within 24 Hours

Less than 24 hours after the blast, civic authorities demolished the illegal tin-shed factory using JCB machines.

Officials also sealed two other firecracker units in the same area that were allegedly operating without the required permissions.

SIT to Probe Blast

The newly constituted SIT has been tasked with investigating the circumstances that led to the explosion and the deaths of nine people.

The team comprises officers from the Ramol police division, including the local PI, ACP and DCP, who will oversee the investigation.

Other Departments Not Part of SIT

While investigations into industrial explosions often involve agencies such as the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's Estate Department, Fire Brigade, Collector's Office and the Electricity Department, no officials from these departments have been formally included in the SIT.

According to officials, these departments will coordinate with the investigation whenever required, while the police-led SIT will conduct the probe.
