Paldi Post Office Sub-Postmaster Held For Allegedly Accepting ₹10,000 Bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday arrested a 59-year-old sub-postmaster for allegedly accepting a ₹10,000 bribe at the Sub Post Office in Paldi, officials said.

The accused was identified as Pallavi Kirankumar Upadhyay, a sub-postmaster. According to the ACB, she allegedly demanded ₹30,000 from a citizen in connection with an order concerning an NDC parcel at the parcel office.

Citizen Approaches ACB Over Bribe Demand

The complainant, who did not want to pay the alleged bribe, approached the ACB and informed officials about the demand.

Following the complaint, Mehsana ACB officials arranged a trap at the Paldi Sub Post Office on September 19.

Bribe Amount Reduced To ₹10,000

According to the ACB, negotiations between the complainant and the accused resulted in the alleged bribe amount being reduced from ₹30,000 to ₹10,000.

During the trap, Upadhyay allegedly accepted the ₹10,000 from the complainant inside the postmaster's office.

The ACB team caught her while allegedly accepting the money and subsequently recovered the entire amount.

ACB Registers Case

The ACB has registered a case against Upadhyay in connection with the alleged demand and acceptance of illegal gratification.

The trap was conducted by Police Inspector H.J. Patel of the Mehsana ACB police station along with his team.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
