Family Truce Talks Turn Bloody Near Ahmedabad Airport: Over Five Injured as Relatives Clash With Stones and Sticks

A peaceful resolution meeting over an ongoing domestic feud turned violent on Tuesday morning in Sarniyavas, near the Ahmedabad airport. Members of an extended family attacked each other with wooden sticks, stones, and blunt objects, leaving more than five relatives—including women—injured and hospitalised.

Peace Talks Collapse Into Violence in Sarniyavas

The violence broke out after family members assembled in Sarniyavas to settle a long-standing internal dispute. What began as a structured discussion quickly degenerated into a heated confrontation.

As tempers flared, relatives picked up stones and sticks, launching a chaotic attack on one another. Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after the brawl, transporting all the injured to Asarwa Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad for treatment.

Cross-Complaints Filed as Airport Police Launch Investigation

Initially, family members hesitated to press formal charges against their own kin. However, police authorities stepped in to record statements and enforce legal protocol.

Airport Police Inspector A. D. Chavda confirmed that legal proceedings have been formally initiated against both factions.

"The parties had gathered to arrive at a settlement over an earlier dispute. During the discussions, an argument broke out, leading to another clash," Inspector Chavda said. "Both sides belong to the same family and are relatives. Earlier, they were reluctant to lodge complaints against each other. We have now initiated the process of registering cross complaints from both sides."

Police teams are gathering evidence and monitoring the condition of the injured at Asarwa Civil Hospital as the investigation continues.
