Odhav Road Patch-Work Faces Quality Check After Flaws Found During Mayor’s Inspection

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation councillors have been asked to monitor pothole-filling and road patch-work in their wards after deficiencies were found during an inspection in Odhav.

Jainik Vakil, Chairman of the AMC Road and Building Committee, has instructed corporators to check whether contractors are carrying out the work properly and maintaining the required quality.

Substandard Work Found During Odhav Inspection

The AMC has launched a city-wide drive to repair potholes that emerged on roads during the monsoon.

Mayor, Standing Committee Chairman and Road and Building Committee Chairman have been conducting site inspections of the work. During one such inspection in Odhav, deficiencies were observed in the patch-work, prompting the civic body to strengthen supervision at the ward level.

Councillors To Check Contractor Work

Vakil has asked all councillors to inspect road patch-work in their respective wards and verify whether contractors are following the required specifications.

They have also been asked to check the quality of the completed work and flag any shortcomings during the repair process.

Officials And Contractor Representatives Must Be Present

Councillors have also been told to verify whether the concerned AMC officials and contractor representatives are present at the site while the patch-work is being carried out.

The ward-level monitoring is intended to help identify negligence or poor-quality work while repairs are underway, allowing officials to address issues immediately.

Councillors To Be Informed Before Road Work

Additional City Engineers in each AMC zone have been instructed to inform the concerned ward councillor before patch-work or other road-related activities begin.

This will allow councillors to visit the site during the work and monitor the execution of road repairs in their respective areas.
