Odhav police have arrested two men for allegedly selling mephedrone (MD) from an open ground at Neelkanth Estate near Sundarsinh Char Rasta in the Singarva area. Officers recovered more than 4 grams of the narcotic from the two accused, who were allegedly using a motorcycle as their base to sell the drug without attracting attention.
The police also seized ₹15,000 in cash, a motorcycle, mobile phones and a Vaseline lip-care cream. Investigators suspect the men had bought the drugs from a friend identified as Arjun for resale. A separate case has been registered against Arjun under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and efforts are under way to trace him.
Police raid open ground after receiving tip-off
The police team acted on information that two men were selling MD drugs from an open plot inside Neelkanth Estate. During the raid, officers allegedly caught them conducting sales while seated on a motorcycle.
The arrested men have been identified as Gaurav alias Aman Nenbahadur Singh Thakur, 24, and Kalpesh alias Krishna Sanjaybhai Yadav, 23. Both live at Makarand Desai's Char Maliya in Odhav.
A search led to the recovery of 2.350 grams of MD drugs from Gaurav and 1.965 grams from Kalpesh, taking the total seizure to 4.315 grams.
Along with the narcotics, police confiscated ₹15,000, mobile phones, the motorcycle and a Vaseline lip-care cream.
Accused allegedly bought drugs for resale
During questioning, the two men allegedly told police that they had gone to Neelkanth Estate for tea on the evening of October 29, where they met their friend Arjun.
According to the police, Gaurav paid Arjun ₹2,000 and Kalpesh paid ₹1,500 to buy the MD drugs. The duo allegedly planned to sell the narcotics in smaller quantities to customers.
Investigators said the men chose the open ground and operated from their motorcycle to avoid drawing attention while making sales.
Odhav police have arrested both accused under the NDPS Act. Further investigation is focused on locating Arjun and tracing the supply chain.
